Fifi and the MudCats is a popular blues band from Muscle Shoals Alabama.


The MudCat mood...

 

 

Karl Dunlap started playing banjo in the Bluegrass band "Katy's Mill" and switched to bass guitar in '92. He then formed the blues band "The MudCats in 1995 with guitarist Matt Crunk and drummer David Brown. The MudCats became the house band at the Fillin' Station in Sheffield. Today, Karl also plays with other local blues bands such as "The Cletus Puckett Experience" and the rock band "Weevil".

 


David Brown is one of the founding member of the MudCats. He played drums in various local bands and the UNA Marching and Jazz bands. David has 25 years of experience as a musician and teacher. He is a paramedic as his alter-ego,so if you pass out because you O/D on the blues, he can fix you up...! David plays Pearl drums with Sabian cymbals.

John Jackson is the newest member of the MudCats. He trained for 5 years under a former MCA recording artist and now teaches professionally. John is a Vocal Music Education Major at UNA and admits influences from blues legends such as B.B. King and SRV. Also, John has played in various rock and roll bands. He brings a biting tone and youthful outlook to the group playing strictly a Fender Stratocaster to achieve his tone.


Annette Labrecque has played with various bands such as the Back Alley Blues Band, The Shoals Blues Band and The Flim Flam Blues Band and joined the MudCats in the Summer of '96. . She was a member of the country band First Glance and also played with Bobby Hood and the Shakers. Annette played piano with the UNA Vocal Jazz Ensemble, keyboards and accordion with the Birmingham based Cajun band, The Steel City Ramblers any place accordion, keyboards and recorders with the Celtic group Full Moon Ensemble. Annette is on the adjunct faculty at the University of North Alabama where she teaches MIDI technology and Production. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Music from UNA and is currently working on her Master's Degree in Music Education. Annette also teaches private piano lessons and is studying the fiddle, Irish flute, acoustic bass and harmonica.

Matt Crunk is one of the founding MudCats. He is an extraordinary guitarist with a unique blues style. He is admired for his most impressive improvisation skills and his outstanding unique voice. Matt has written numerous blues songs. His vibrant version of the "Little Red Rooster" will have you at the edge of your seat...
